Ongoing - Mulitplication Challenge
** Please note that by Year 5 children are expected to be developing fluent recall of multiplication facts up to 10 x 10 and the associated division facts **
Reading - approximately 20 minutes per night. Spending time discussing what your child has read is also very important and will help with their comprehension skills.
Your child has been given a reading record which they are responsible for looking after. These are the children's own personal record of their reading with you and we would appreciate you signing them when you have heard your child read. These are checked periodically but not daily.
To encourage children to read at home regularly we are continuing with our 'Reading Miles'.
Children will also be set spelling homework, handed out on Wednesday and to be returned the following Monday.
Indoor PE Tuesday.
Outdoor PE Tuesday (completed on a rotational basis and weather permitting).
Swimming Friday Morning.
Cross Country Monday and Wednesday.
Please ensure children have the correct kit, including trainers, for these sessions.

On Wednesday afternoons the year 5 teachers have their PPA Time. The children in year 5 are then led by our experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants. In these afternoon sessions topic work, art, music and SEAL may be covered.

Year 5 Interventions

Intervention group work is sometimes required when a child needs additional support. Pupil premium funding is available for some of the intervention strategies.

The interventions can last for one session a day, one week or one term dependant upon the individual needs of the child. If necessary, parents are informed of any intervention through a school report, telephone call or letter.
