Happy New Year to you all! 

Our topic of this half term is ‘Tomorrow’s World’.

What is currently happening in our world and what will tomorrow become?


We will be learning about the very important roles forests play in our ecosystem and the impact of deforestation that is occurring across the planet. Our suspense writing, based on the book ‘World Burn Down’, will support our understanding of forests as it tells a story of a young boy (Carlos) who is kidnapped by farmers, loggers and miners who are illegally destroying the precious rainforests.

VIPERS sessions will be linked to ‘World Burn Down’, climate change and renewable energies.

In Science, we will be studying electricity and delving into the question ‘What did Edison discover?’ The children will create various circuits and investigate what occurs when certain components are added or removed.

Our PE this term will be focused on Dance, creating performances that are sequenced to music.

Class Read: Black and British 

Black British history is no longer invisible, instead it is celebrated and understood as an important part of British History. 

This book takes us on a stunning visual journey through 1800 years of Black British history and tells us the stories that have brought us all together in this country. 

P.E Timetable and Kit:
For Hawthorn Class P.E will be taking place on Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. We ask that on these days children in Hawthorn class come into school dressed in their P.E kits. 

P.E Kit requirements:

-Sky Blue Biscovey Academy t-shirt

-Navy Blue Biscovey Academy hoody

-Black shorts (black tracksuit bottoms can be worn for outside P.E. when the weather is cold)



Year 6 pupils will receive weekly homework that will be set on a Friday and expected to be completed by the following Wednesday. The children will be using the CGP Key Stage 2 Reading comprehension and CGP Maths books which will target the units that have been covered within school. Additionally, the children will receive a set number of spellings to practise per week.
