At Biscovey Academy, we aim to develop the geographical knowledge, skills and understanding that enable pupils to make sense of the world around them and their place within it. We believe that geography plays a vital role in helping children understand the relationship between people, places and environments, both locally and globally. Through high-quality teaching and engaging geographical enquiries, children build a secure understanding of locational knowledge, developing contextual knowledge of globally significant places and their physical and human characteristics. Lessons encourage curiosity, critical thinking and informed decision-making as pupils explore geographical patterns, processes and connections. From Years 3 to 6, children progressively develop their mapping, fieldwork and enquiry skills whilst deepening their understanding of diverse locations across the world. At Biscovey Academy, we aim to equip every child with the knowledge, skills and awareness needed to become informed, responsible and globally minded citizens.
