Welcome to Year 6 Ash Class

This half term we will centre our learning around our history key question of ‘An Gof – Hero or Villain?’ as we explore events in Cornwall 500 years ago and consider how viewpoints can differ. In Science, we will be learning about ‘All living things and their habitats’ to help us answer questions such as how living things are grouped, how we classify organisms, and how different species can be identified based on their characteristics.

We have lots of exciting opportunities planned, including developing our understanding of Cornish history through enquiry-based learning. In Design Technology, the children will be creating and developing their own recipes, making choices about ingredients, nutrition, and presentation, including designing labels and evaluating their final products. In Writing, we will be focusing on persuasive adverts linked to Cornish pasties before moving on to developing our plot weaving skills.

In maths, children will be continuing with WR Maths project work, applying their knowledge across a range of concepts to deepen understanding and problem-solving skills. In P.E., we will be focusing on track and field, developing skills such as speed, stamina, and coordination through a variety of athletic activities.

Hazel has P.E. on Wednesday and Thursday each week; please ensure that your child's kit is in school each day.
