Welcome to Year 6 Hazel Class
This half term we will centre our learning around the geography key question of ‘To Tuna, or not to Tuna?’ We will start the half term with science, where we will be looking at the heart and our circulatory system as we answer our inquiry question: ‘What is the Cost of being Heartless?’
We have lots of exciting opportunities planned, including a trip to a local fishery to explore sustainable fishing. In Art, the children will use clay and plasticine to sculpt their own semi‑abstract heart models. In Writing, we will be writing a diary entry based on an evacuee’s journey, which we can use our existing knowledge of WW2 to help us!
In maths, we will be exploring equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages by converting them. We will also look at measurement, including area and perimeter, area of triangles and parallelograms, and volume. In P.E., we are looking at invasion games and looking at skills for this through hockey. This involves hand-eye coordination, ball precision and teamwork.
Children will bring home their homework sheet at the start of this half term, and it can be found at the bottom of our website page. Children will also be continuing with their new homework books, which we ask are returned to class and marked (Maths and Reading) by Wednesday each week. Completing their homework books and reading will enable them to receive raffle tickets each week!
Hazel has P.E. on Wednesday and Thursday each week; please ensure that your child's kit is in school each day.
Thank you for your continued support.
