Welcome to Rowan Class
This half term we will centre our learning around the theme of ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll’. We will start the half term with science, where we will be looking at Space as we answer our inquiry question;
“Why does the Earth move?”
We have lots more exciting opportunities planned, including a Space Dome experience. This term in Year 4/5, we’ll blast off into our Space topic, exploring the planets in order. We’ll discover how the Earth, Sun, and Moon orbit each other to create day, night, and the changing seasons. This half term, our writing lessons will focus on developing our grammar and punctuation skills. Towards the end of the half term, we will be creating dragon eyes using clay.
In Maths, we will begin with place value exploring numbers up to 1,000,000 before moving on to addition and subtraction.
Times Tables: For children in Year 4 we are fast approaching the Multiplication Check in June. Daily Times Table practice will really benefit them - please speak to us if you want some ideas for different activities.
PE Lessons: Rowan Class has P.E. on Monday each week; please ensure that your child’s kit is in school each day. Our P.E. lessons this half term will focus on developing our skills in tag rugby including passing, catching and evasion.
I look forward to working with you to support your child achieve their very best.
