Welcome to Sycamore Class 

This half term we will centre our learning around the theme of ‘Unique Europe’. Our Geography learning involves us exploring the UK, Europe, and the European Union by comparing regions, locating important countries and cities, and understanding their connections and significance.  

In Science, we continue our Science topic of ‘Animals and their Habitats’ moving our focus to humans, as we answer our inquiry question; 

"What would happen if we had no skeleton and didn’t bother to eat?"   

In writing, pupils will plan and write a non-chronological report and a recount letter, developing their ability to organise information and write for different purposes and audiences 

In Maths, pupils will develop fluency in addition, subtraction, estimation and inverse operations with three-digit numbers, while applying multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 times tables through reasoning and problem-solving. 

Our PE focus is Gymnastics where the pupils will develop their skills by performing and linking jumps, rolls and balances into a sequence, while focusing on controlled take-offs and landings and evaluating their performance.    

Sycamore Class will continue to have P.E. on Monday and Friday each week; please ensure that your child’s (named) kit is in school each day. 

For homework, children will continue to bring home their homework book containing a homework grid to explore over the half term! Activities will link to in-school learning topics and activities. The children are to complete one piece of homework off the grid each week and return their books to class each Monday. They will also receive a weekly maths sheet to practise and consolidate key mathematical skills taught in class. In addition, every day, we'd like pupils to keep up with reading, Times Tables Rock Stars, and to practise any spellings they may find tricky.
