Welcome back Cedar class!

We hope you have had a lovely half term break. We have some very exciting lessons planned over the next few weeks!

This half term, we are continuing with our topic of the Romans! This is a history based topic where we will use our History lessons to learn about the Roman invasion on Britain and their contrast of lifestyle compared to the Celts. We will also learn about the Iceni tribe and how Boudicca stood up to the Romans.

In our weekly Design and Technology lessons, we will be exploring Roman catapults. Within this learning journey, we will be designing and making our own Roman catapults using a range of woodwork skills.

In science, we are learning about states of matter. We will look at the three different states of matter and their particle arrangement. We will also set up our own investigations to see how temperature impacts states of matter.

In writing, we will be looking at an action narrative called the Battle of Gladiators. The children will consolidate their learning on punctuating direct speech to support them in writing their own action narrative based on this text. During our second unit of writing, the children will write a newspaper report as if they are reporting the attack by the Romans on Boudicca and her tribe. Finally, we will finish this half term by exploring acoustic poems.

In Maths, we will be finishing our unit on Fractions. We will then start a new unit on decimals. We will also be continuing to develop the children's knowledge of times table facts in the lead up to the multiplication check.

Our other curriculum lessons this half term will be PSHE, Computing and French.
