Welcome to Year 6 Ash Class
This half term we will centre our learning around the geography key question of ‘What Makes the Galapagos Worth Saving?’ In Science, we will be looking at evolution and inheritance to help us answer the question ‘How do Living Things Adapt to their Environments?’
We have lots of exciting opportunities planned, including a trip to the Eden Project to support with our understanding of Charles Darwin and his sketches. In Art, the children will be using their skills to create some detailed sketches of Galapagos animals. In Writing, we will be writing an instruction text about ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ which will the children are very excited about!
In maths, children will be finishing our geometry unit as well as recap any other maths units to help with their consolidation. In P.E., we will be practising our country dancing in our classes and year groups, ahead of our school’s May Fayre in addition to cricket. We will be learning skills such as consistency in bowling, stance and teamwork.
Children will bring home their homework sheet at the start of this half term, and it can be found at the bottom of our website page. Children will also be continuing with their new homework books, which we ask are returned to class and marked (Maths and Reading) by Wednesday each week. Completing their homework books and reading will continue to enable them to receive raffle tickets each week!
Ash has P.E. on Wednesday and Thursday each week; please ensure that your child's kit is in school each day.
Thank you for your continued support.
